"If you think life is strange, wait till you see what comes next."

"I begged them to put me in that movie. I'd never seen a script like it. There are no real effects, no Beetlejuice makeup,

and it's much murkier and less obvious than that picture. But I think it's quite extraordinary."

Summary:

A famous movie actor Cesar Valentin (Peter O'Toole) claims that he has written a book. As result, the real author (Colin Firth), not a very well known writer, vengenfully kills him but then dies as a result of an accident. Next, they both find themselves in after-life, where souls of all famous people are gathered. As afterlife goes on, Valentin finds himself forgotten and his accommodations downgraded, and the previously frustrated writer, who has gained notoriety for his crime, moves up.

Most of the picture takes place in the afterlife, at a posh hotel that houses only celebrities who are still famous. Firth ends up there only because he's famous for killing a movie star.
