Set in the Oxfordshire countryside close to Banbury, Edgecote Hall had just the right look and feel of Jane Austen's vision of Netherfield.

The Saloon, or Ballroom is 60 feet in length and was furnished by the flamboyant first Lord Melbourne at a cost of £1,500 in 1760. The fireplace is by Adam, the mirrors by Chippendale and the ceilings were painted

by Sir Francis Wheatley.
